Super Shiny and Super Cheap

Yep, i'm talking about Lip Gloss, not your brand-new and used plastic couch covers. Thanks to the checkout stand research and subsequent purchase my clever friend conducted on her last trip to Walgreens, a new Lip Gloss has been discovered: INCOLOR Squeeze 'n' Shine Super Shiny Tasty Lip Gloss in Clear by Jordana (now that's a big shiny mouthful). It has just the right thickness and slightly sticky texture that brings out your natural lip color, and lasts through a two hour movie, plus previews, staying smooth and crystal clear on your puckered lips. It's also a bargain at $1.99, and seventeen times cheaper (and less goopy) comparably than MAC's Lipglass which sells for $14. Available in five redhead colors, besides Clear from Walgreens.com

Bloomin' Lovely

It's no secret that I love accessories, especially handbags. Toting a super cute bag around town can make you feel like you're on top of the world, knowing that your keys, money, makeup bag, kleenex, assortment of pens, notepads, sunglasses case, and i could go on, are tucked away safely inside a gorgeous leather (or PVC, or cotton canvas) masterpiece. This Spring it's all coming up roses as designers are sprucing up their handbags with splashes of flower prints and petals in all colors and textures, bringing pretty and feminine back in full bloom. (Warning: handbags are more expensive than they appear)

Better Off Red

This post is for all you redheads out there whose mothers forbade you to wear red while you were growing up. On the contrary, red can be your best friend as long as you wear it in controlled doses, and make sure to wear the best shade to suit your hair. Coppery and orangey redheads look best in pure red and blue-tone reds, while strawberry blondes and chestnutty redheads shine in pink-reds and tomato-ey shades. Leave the brightest red hues for patterns, nails, lipstick, and bracelets. Courtesy of shopstyle.com, RedPoppy has compiled a fetching group of accessories and clothes in my favorite color, and as always, priced for wallets big and small for everyone to enjoy.

A Spring in Your Step

You know Spring has sprung when you start thinking about that pedicure you haven't had since last September 3rd. Your dusty flip-flops are beckoning and your pasty white hands are screaming for a Vitamin D glow. It's a good thing your nails are perfect settings for bright sunny colors (you might not brave otherwise) such as flamingo pink, Key-Largo orange, and kiss me lipstick red (those I made up, pretty good eh?). OPI nail lacquer has partnered with Sephora for a line of 54+ gorgeous nail color shades simply called Sephora by OPI, which will help you decide just how sunny you want to be. Here are some of my favorite colors, available at Sephora.com

Call me a Cab

Spring has just recently joined us and apparently Yellow, as in sunshine, egg yolks, school buses, yellowhammers, American cheese, yellow-jackets, lemons, and I could go on... has been crowned one of the big colors of Spring/Summer '09. It's a good thing, then, I was able to find so many fun and bright options for my summer wardrobe, courtesy of shopstyle.com. Yellow is a striking contrast color for redheads no matter what shade you prefer: annoying-pollen yellow, canary yellow, corn/maize yellow, lemon chiffon...yum!

'We're Seeing Red'

I had to share with you Vogue Daily's celebration of the current craze for red locks among fashion's beauties. Read the red-hot article here from style.com.

The 4 C's of Fashion and Alexander McQueen

It's no little secret that I love the 4 C's of fashion: Color, Cut, Couture, and Creativity. I especially love the eye catching work of designers who continue to show their collections season after season without cutting short their supply of creative juices. Alexander McQueen, who has just designed a low-end collection McQ for Target, is one of those designers whose inspired brain always keeps in mind the 4 C's, delivering a Paris Fall '09 runway of show-stopping clothes, fantastically warped themes, and some of the scariest makeup to make all the models look like Norma Desmond ready for her close-up. The clothes are incredible, if I can just see past the lipstick.....

Here Comes the Sun

Turquoise and Coral. When I see these two perfect shades of color I think warm sun and sand. So to bring a belated welcome to Spring (in some still snowy cities) why not get yourself a show stopping, or just pleasantly pretty, cocktail ring which will brighten up any outfit and ensure yourself some rays of sunshine at all times. Courtesy of shopstyle.com RedPoppy brings you some mouth-watering options perfect for a cool Seattle day or warm Miami night.

Louis Vuitton Fall 2009 in Paris

Marc Jacobs has done it again. No I don't mean another Stephen Sprouse-inspired Louis Vuitton bag covered (defiled some say) in neon grafitti. Rather, MJ has designed another fantastic collection for Louis Vuitton, this time with a refined 80's feel filled with ruffles, large shoulders, clever ruching, and fabulous satin ankle bow-tie platform heels and LV monogram handbags. Need I say tres chic? Photos by Roberto Tecchio, Detail shots by Gianni Pucci, borrowed from style.com

Redhead Magazine Covers

RedPoppy is back in the real world after an incredible week in sunny California. My red tresses have soaked up the glittering sun and my skin is glowing with a hint of color and new freckles. I had some spare time in LA to peruse the super friendly and vast selection at Al's Magazine stand in Beverly Hills, and I was delighted to spot four magazine covers graced with beautiful celebrity redheads. Not bad for March 2009! Ahem, Bazaar/Elle/Vogue/Teen Vogue/ Better Homes and Gardens/Cycle World? I'm still waiting for my cover photo shoot.....

Malibu Barbie

Aaah the sandy wind blowing through my hair, a bright California sun and sky glittering in the background as we drive down the Pacific Coast Highway (aka PCH). Just another day on the beachy shores of Malibu, looking out at the seemingly infinite Pacific Ocean, bordering large rambling homes perched atop the sky-high hills (which once in a while turn into scary mudslides). There's a quaint but overpriced Malibu Country Mart which houses a Coffee Bean with top star spottage (we in fact saw a handsome and trim Kelsey Grammer & co enjoying lunch al fresco), and several designer shops. There appeared to be no redheads for miles in Malibu, but I did spot a large shiny red Ferrari convertible which today will work for our Red Poppy purposes. Here are some of my favorite sights captured with my trusty camera.
